Annual Meeting Held

The Tennessee Interfaith Power and Light steering committee met on Saturday, November 16; it is TIPL’s  annual meeting of the steering committee.

A brief summary of the meeting follows:

  • Elections were held & approved the terms of office.
  • Voted to sign onto IPL’s “Green New Deal Faith Principles”.
  • Relayed ideas from the Bioneers’ conference, and recommended its’ 3 minute environmental videos for meetings (which can be found at bioneers.org).
  • Talked about the status of the climate movement, and the need for a major shift in paradigm (moving from fossil fuels to zero emissions).
  • Reviewed last year’s goals, and did a bit of brainstorming about next year’s goals.
  • Maintenance of our Facebook site is now being handled by one of our new steering committee members.

We demonstrate our spiritual values by reducing our carbon footprint within our daily lives, releasing the spiritual power of our faith communities, and advocating for transformative climate protection and justice policies.
